Our annual Washington Twp Veterans Brunch (to take the place of the Veterans Day Brunch usually held in November) took place on Tuesday, September 29 at 9:30 AM at the pavilion at Rock Spring Park. A little foggy, but enjoyed by all that attended.
On April 22 the senior leadership team from our post along with Mayor Matt Murello and Brig. General Mark Piterski, Deputy Commissioner for veterans affairs, NJ, participated in an award ceremony for two of our post veterans. Kaare Allan Johnson was awarded the NJ distinguished service medal for his service during WWII. Don Cable was awarded the NJ Meritorious service medal for his service during the Korean War. In addition Mayor Murello presented them with his personal proclamations.

On Monday, December 9, 2019 members of our post participated in the Washington Township “Annual Senior Holiday Luncheon” at the Black Oak Golf Club. A great time was had by all, and we would like to thank the Washington Twp Parks & Recreation Department for their effort.
On behalf of the members of post “1776” we want to thank the Washington Twp Police Department for hosting our monthly Post meeting at the police headquarters.
We appreciated the coffee, bagels and donuts that your staff provided. I know that you all are busy, but we were happy that several of your force, including yourself took the time to come into the conference room to greet us and thank us for our service on this Veterans Day.
On Veterans Day evening a few members of our post went to the Chesapeake Tavern in Long Valley. They offered free dinners to veterans. Those of us who attended had a great time and a wonderful meal.
On Monday, November 11 Posat 1776 had a Luncheon at Heath Village Retirement Community with Veterans living at Heath Village.
On Monday, November 11, 2019 (Veterans Day) Post 1776 participated in a Flag raising at Kossmann School followed by flag raising at Flocktown School with class discussions afterwards. Breakfast was served to the veterans at Kossmann School.
